Agent Merit in armour
I am a weapon, command me.
Miles Kilo, Syndicate, Wakeup Call

Agents are the elite forces of the syndicates. Typically operating in teams of four, they are used during high-priority missions where anything less than a complete success would be unacceptable.

In the era of the original Syndicate they were carefully selected humans who, after being abducted, were brainwashed using a combination of drugs and technology to carry out the work of the corporation that now owned them. The agents of Syndicate Wars appear to be bio-engineered in an effort to create a more perfect agent, with less of a reliance on drugs. Both variants can be equipped with cybernetic enhancements to increase their combat capabilities.

Whilst prototype agents such as Miles Kilo, protagonist of the Syndicate reboot work autonomously, with their free will more or less intact, later generations are directly controlled by an executive on board an airship above their deployment zone.

Agents can be either sex, and invariably have pale skin and eyes – presumably a by-product of the indoctrination procedure – and short, cropped hair, which has been known to be dyed to match the colour of their owning company's logo. They are tall, muscular, and strong enough to carry and fire a minigun without injuring themselves from the recoil, even before any cybernetic enhancements have been installed. Their body is covered in a polymorphic rubber coating from head to toe, and over this bodysuit they wear dark trench coats, the later versions of which feature armoured shoulders and come in a variety of colours dependant upon the preferences of their operating executive.

When not on missions, agents are stored in places such as the LIMBO-class cryogenics facility used in Syndicate Wars, which keep them in top working order and allow them to be upgraded.
